IMPACT for BPO Transition
The Challenge
Modern computer systems and network technologies are enabling
businesses to distribute workload to staff around the world.
To achieve the required service levels the offshore staff
need stable and performant access to core systems, often located
thousands of miles away. To meet this need IT staff need to
know:
- How much bandwidth will be requireded to the offshore
location?
- Given adequate bandwidth, will response times be acceptable?
- Which applications or infrastructure components must be re-engineered
to achieve acceptable response times?
The Service
The IMPACT service helps ensure that your offshore staff have reliable
access to the systems they need with response times that don't impact their efficiency.
The typical structure of an IMPACT project will be:
- Benchmark Performance - measure the local performance of the systems that
will be used offshore
- Performance Acceptance Testing (PAT) - determine if the performance of each
application will be acceptable at the offshore location
- Re-engineering Advice - recommend actions where application performance
will be unacceptable
- Application Profiling - to determine the network bandwidth needed and server
specification
- Performance Confirmation - compare performance of the live offshore location
with the benchmark figures and PAT results
- Resolve Unexpected Issues - where performance is not as projected
Although the above steps are typical, we tailor our service to
precisely meet your needs.

Benefits
To mitigates the risks inherent in such a project and make
sure that the project is a success, the IMPACT service can:
- Ensure that response times at the offshore location are
acceptable
- Give an early warning of applications that must be re-engineered
- Avoid wasted IT spend on unnecessary upgrades
- Enable you to budget and plan for necessary upgrades
- Minimise delay in project delivery
- Prove that the project was successful
- Help IT staff achieve personal KPIs
