non disruptive analysis of a live environment; thereby avoiding the need
to recreate the problem in a test environment. The technique is very
precise; literally studying each end to end transaction. This removes
any doubt from the conclusions and enables us to deliver a detailed
report which gives you the solid evidence you need to support your

is the technique we use to illustrate the bottleneck in an end-to-end
system.
The diagram below shows a typical example. Our customer processes
credit card applications. The users were experiencing intermittent
response-times of 20+ seconds against an expectation of 10 seconds. The
belief was that the cause was either the Managed Network or delay in
responses from the External Credit Rating Agency.
We were able to show that the majority of the delay was in the
Application Server. Further analysis identified a program logic problem
with a component in that server.
